Hi there!
I'm Camille Hagens, the heart and mind behind CK Tutoring.
I've been working with children in many capacities for almost a decade, and over the last few years have discovered a deep love for teaching. To me, coming alongside young ones as they begin to unlock the vast world of reading and writing is a feeling like no other. Being able to help young learners grasp academics has become one of my biggest passions!
My Story
My journey working with children started at age 11, when I began babysitting for a few local families. Since then, I've had countless opportunities to mentor and teach young ones, both in group and individual settings. Over the years, I've volunteered at day camps and in elementary school classrooms, been fortunate to teach homeschool co-ops, and run a homeschool pod. Through these amazing experiences, I've been privileged to be a close part of the lives of over 35 families and 70 children. I've worked with children of all ages, including many with exceptionalities and learning delays (including ADHD, ASD, Dyslexia, and Speech Apraxia). With this, I have seen firsthand the importance of one-on-one teaching and being able to present the learning material in a way each student can grasp and understand - especially for those with academic and social struggles. In my own education throughout elementary school, I was taught in a self-contained gifted class, which gave me exposure to many different methods of teaching and learning right from the start. Since graduating as an Ontario Scholar in 2021, I have spent countless hours of self-study into researching curricula, teaching pedagogy, and practical ways to make learning enjoyable for students of all capabilities. In 2024, I became trained in the Orton Gillingham method of reading to better help students with learning delays and difficulties. For the safety of my students, I have been trained in First Aid/AED Level C, and have a completed Vulnerable Sector Screening (available to view at the request of parents).

When I'm not teaching, you can find me in one of a few different places - spending time with my niece and nephew (and siblings!), going on adventures with friends, cooking, reading, crocheting, sewing, or deep-diving into research on a variety of topics. I love to teach, but I also love to learn!

Now that you know a little bit about me, I look forward to getting to know you and your young learner(s)!
